What is a Board Certified Behavior Analyst?

A Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA) is an individual who holds a Master’s degree in a human service field such as Special Education, Behavior Analysis or Psychology. The BCBA must complete specific coursework in Behavior Analysis, have supervised experience under someone with a BCBA and pass a standardized examination. A BCBA at the doctoral level (BCBA-D) must have earned a Doctoral degree.

Behavior Therapy Associates (BTA) currently has BCBAs and BCBA-Ds on staff who have extensive experience working with children and adolescents with autism spectrum disorders, oppositional defiant disorder and significant behavior challenges, attention deficit hyperactivity disorder, learning disabilities, anxiety disorders, mood disorders, communication deficits and social deficits.

What are the conditions for our substitute service?

While our BCBAs can provide long-term consultation services to your district, they can also provide per diem or short-term substitute services for the district BCBA employee. For example, our BCBAs can cover employees on disability due to personal injury or family leave. The BCBA may also serve as an “InterimBCBA” while the district seeks a part- or full-time BCBA employee.

  • Support for Inclusion Classes
  • Home-based Parent Training Services
  • Supervision of Home-based Programs
  • Lead Staff or Parent Training Workshops
  • Creating or Maintaining Existing Data Collection Procedures
  • Creating or Maintaining Existing Skill Tracking Procedures
  • Attend Annual Reviews or Related Meetings
  • Continue Hands-On Training to Teachers and Instructional Assistants

Additionally, we could be referred to new students identified by the Child Study Team who require behavioral services during the district BCBA’s absence.
