Hongmarie Martinez, Psy.D. is a licensed psychologist in New Jersey, New York, and Maryland and a certified school psychologist in New Jersey.
Dr. Martinez received her undergraduate degree in psychology with a minor in criminology from Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey. She continued her education at Rutgers University Graduate School of Applied and Professional Psychology, where she earned her master’s and doctoral degrees in psychology.
Dr. Martinez specializes in assessing and treating children, adolescents, adults, and families who experience difficulties with anxiety disorders, stress, obsessive-compulsive disorder, tics, body-focused repetitive behaviors (e.g., hair pulling, skin picking), depression, ADHD, life transitions, trauma, grief/loss, parenting, and family issues. Dr. Martinez has had varied experiences throughout her clinical training, providing individual, group, and family therapy, conducting psychoeducational and diagnostic assessments, consultation, and mental health programming. She has worked in a variety of settings, including in outpatient clinics, specialty clinics, a school-based mental health program, a college counseling center, a hospital, and a summer inclusion camp.
Dr. Martinez has also worked in multiple New Jersey schools and on Child Study Teams, helping families navigate the process of pursuing a 504 plan, special education services for their children, and advocating for their academic and social-emotional needs. Additionally, Dr. Martinez is committed to outreach and disseminating education about mental health topics and resources to schools and communities.
Dr. Martinez is passionate about collaboratively approaching treatment using a range of well-supported, research-based approaches that are rooted in cognitive behavior therapy (CBT). She also has expertise in specialized behavioral treatments, including Exposure and Response Prevention (ERP), Comprehensive Behavioral Intervention for Tics (CBIT), and Habit Reversal Training (HRT). She is dedicated to assisting the individuals, families, and organizations that she works with in identifying their specific needs and developing personalized, effective strategies to cope with their challenges, uncovering their unique strengths, and helping them navigate their pathway towards positive change in their lives.
Dr. Martinez has the authority to practice interjurisdictional telepsychology (APIT) from
