SEMINAR: Mental Health Issues Facing 21st Century Learners

This inservice will address some of the most challenging mental health and related behavior issues students experience, including depression and suicide, substance abuse, school avoidance and dropout, and significant behavior issues. Common signs of distress across various student issues and the dangerous behaviors students adopt in an attempt to cope will be discussed. Strategies will be explored regarding effective prevention and intervention, including early identification of problems, student engagement, home-school-community collaboration, key resiliency factors, fostering an emotionally and physically safe learning environment, and creating a positive school culture and climate.
