Elizabeth G. Callahan, M.A., BCBA, is a Board Certified Behavior Analyst. Ms. Callahan completed her bachelor’s degree from Seton Hall University in Social & Behavioral Sciences with a minor in Social Work, while simultaneously studying Applied Behavior Analysis at Saint Cloud State University. Then, she received her master’s degree in Applied Behavior Analysis at Caldwell University.
Ms. Callahan has extensive experience working with public, public charter, and private schools, providing consultation, evaluations, and staff development. She has expertise in working collaboratively with schools to build capacity and develop systems that integrate best practices in behavior analysis and social-emotional learning to address classroom management, challenging behaviors, improve school culture and climate, and disproportionality in special education. She also has experience as a counselor and consultant for summer camps, providing training and systems support to counselors and camp directors focused on social-emotional and behavioral supports. In addition, she has worked in the home setting, focusing on parent training, community outings, and generalization of skills outside the school setting.
She has been applying the principles of behavior analysis and learning for two decades to improve socially significant behaviors for individuals presenting with developmental disabilities, emotional regulation impairments, severe disruptive behaviors, and social skills deficits. She conducts functional behavior assessments (FBA’s) and interview-informed, synthesized contingency analysis (IISCA) to develop safe, individualized, effective, function-based treatment plans.
Ms. Callahan also has expertise in leading professional development workshops and webinars, supervising BCBAs, and coaching large multidisciplinary teams. Her professional interests include school culture and climate, the behavioral impact of social media and screen time, safe and practical interventions to teach social communication and reduce problem behavior, self-management, and trauma-informed and compassionate care. Ms. Callahan is a member of the New Jersey Association for Behavior Analysis (NJABA), Association for Behavior Analysis International (ABAI), and the Association of Professional Behavior Analysts.
