Rory A. Panter, Psy.D. is a clinical psychologist, licensed in New Jersey.
Dr. Panter received a dual undergraduate Honors Degree in Psychology and English from Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey. Subsequently, she earned her doctorate in clinical psychology, with a specialization in child and family issues, at the American School of Professional Psychology at Argosy University, Washington D.C. Campus. She completed her pre-doctoral internship at Andrus Children’s Center (formerly the Center for Preventive Psychiatry) in New York.
Over the last 20 years, Dr. Panter has been working with children, adolescents, and adults to help them successfully navigate life’s challenges and work towards becoming their best selves. She strives to empower individuals, couples, and families to leverage their unique strengths to define personal goals and achieve meaningful progress. She is passionate about creating a therapeutic environment that is safe, welcoming, and accessible to clients from all backgrounds. and dedicated to understanding each individual’s intersectional identity (i.e., culture, gender, sexuality, faith, socioeconomic status, etc.) within a compassionate and supportive space.
Dr. Panter uses evidence-based treatments, including Cognitive Behavior Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), and mindfulness-based strategies to treat a variety of conditions, such as ADHD, disruptive behavior disorders, anxiety disorders, depression, and navigating parenting and life transitions. She has extensive experience in the assessment and treatment of children, adolescents, and adults with Autism Spectrum Disorders, which includes conducting initial evaluations as well as helping individuals navigate different life stages and realize their full potential. Dr. Panter conducts Psychoeducational and Psychological Evaluations, which are aimed at determining an individual’s strengths and needs, gaining diagnostic clarity, and providing recommendations for the school or home environment. She also has experience working in school districts and private schools across all levels, including conducting school-based counseling and facilitating social skills groups with students, as well as consulting with staff. In addition, she presents workshops for parents and professionals on a variety of topics, including those listed above.
Dr. Panter serves as a Volunteer Clinical Assistant Professor in the Department of Psychiatry at Rutgers-RWJ Medical School and a Volunteer Clinical Supervisor for Rutgers Graduate School of Applied and Professional Psychology. Dr. Panter was previously the Program Director of the North New Jersey Campus of the HI-STEP Summer Social Skills Program.
