Steven B. Gordon, PhD, ABPP (Emeritus) is the Founder of Behavior Therapy Associates. During his extensive and impactful career, Dr. Gordon was a clinical psychologist, having been licensed in New Jersey. Dr. Gordon was also Board Certified in Cognitive and Behavioral Psychology by the American Board of Professional Psychology and was a Diplomate in Behavior Therapy from the American Board of Behavioral Psychology. Throughout his career, Dr. Gordon treated countless individuals and families, trained and supervised many post-doctoral fellows, consulted to numerous schools and organizations, and provided professional development and workshops at local, state, national, and international conferences.
Dr. Gordon served on the faculty at the Graduate School of Applied and Professional Psychology, Rutgers University, where he taught courses on adult and child behavior therapy for over 25 years and was an Adjunct Associate Professor in the Department of Psychiatry, Rutgers University Medical School.
Dr. Gordon co-authored several books, published numerous articles, presented papers at local and national conferences, and served on editorial boards of professional journals. He collaborated with three of Behavior Therapy Associates’ colleagues to co-author the Behavior Problems Resource Kit: Forms and Procedures for Identification, Measurement and Intervention. Dr. Gordon and Dr. Selbst co-authored the new social-emotional skills program POWER-Solving: Stepping Stones to Solving Life’s Everyday Social Problems.
Dr. Gordon’s professional interests included Acceptance and Commitment Therapy/Training (ACT) to help individuals become more psychologically flexible so they can have a life consistent with their chosen values.
