Who We Are
Behavior Therapy Associates (BTA) is a private group practice founded in 1979 by Dr. Steven Gordon and led by Executive Director Dr. Michael Selbst. Our New Jersey practice brings together licensed psychologists, school psychologists, board certified behavior analysts, licensed behavior analysts, and postdoctoral fellows who are committed to helping individuals, families, schools, organizations, and teams achieve meaningful growth and success.
For six decades, Behavior Therapy Associates has provided high-quality behavioral and cognitive therapies, evaluations, consultation, coaching, and training services. We utilize evidence-based approaches while maintaining sensitivity, compassion, and respect for the unique needs of each individual and setting.

Who We Serve
Behavior Therapy Associates serves children, adolescents, adults, couples, families, educators, professionals, athletes, performers, organizations, and teams across a wide range of social, emotional, behavioral, developmental, career, and life-transition needs. Our practice supports clients throughout the United States, including in person at our Somerset, New Jersey office and via telehealth throughout New Jersey, New York, Pennsylvania, Maryland, and Florida.
For clients in other states, our clinicians can provide telehealth through PSYPACT, allowing BTA to extend care to individuals in many participating states. This flexibility helps us support people, organizations, and teams across age groups and life stages while making evidence-based care more accessible wherever they are.

Leadership
Behavior Therapy Associates was founded by Dr. Steven Gordon, whose vision established a long-standing foundation of evidence-based, compassionate care. Today, the practice is led by Dr. Michael Selbst, Executive Director, Licensed Psychologist, Certified School Psychologist, Board Certified Behavior Analyst at the doctoral level, and Licensed Behavior Analyst. Together, that legacy and leadership reflect BTA’s continued commitment to clinical excellence, collaboration, and individualized support for the people, families, and organizations we serve.
